Toyota Service Cost Estimator
Overview
The Toyota Service Cost Estimator helps Toyota owners estimate the cost of common maintenance services for their specific vehicle. It provides parts cost, labor cost, dealer vs independent shop price comparisons, DIY difficulty ratings, and recommended service intervals.
How It Works
The tool uses a lookup table mapping vehicle models and service types to their estimated parts and labor costs. When a user selects a model and service type:
- Retrieves the service data record for the selected model-service combination
- Calculates total estimated cost (parts + labor)
- Applies multipliers for dealer (1.3×) and independent shop (0.85×) estimates
- Displays service time, DIY difficulty, and recommended replacement interval
Formula Logic
data = serviceData[model][service]
total_cost = parts_cost + labor_cost
dealer_estimate = total_cost × 1.30 (30% dealer premium)
independent_estimate = total_cost × 0.85 (15% independent discount)
